The band, originally formed in 1977 as the Robben Ford Group, have always stayed true to a growing sound that incorporated instruments to electric sound. Over the years the Yellowjackets have been applauded for being one of the only true jazz fusion bands, successfully crossing jazz genres including blues, R&B, and electric. Their most recent album released is Cohearance and have plans to release a new album in September 2018.

There is a parking garage next to the theater that is not owned by the theater. Parking is generally $10 for Folly patrons, although on evenings with large, downtown Kansas City events, parking could be up to $15.
