Kansas City Rumba Collective

Kansas City Rumba Collective

Presented by Open Spaces at The Village at Swope Park

Rumba has been going on locally since the early 1980s, when Cuban musician Augustin Romero-Diaz emigrated to Kansas City, bringing with him a unique Afro-Cuban sound. Romero-Diaz shared his passion for Cuban music every Sunday afternoon at Loose Park, and since his passing in 2014, his daughter Miko Spears has kept the flame going. At Swope Park the Collective will perform The Romero-Diaz Project in four programs.
