The Barn Players bring the Tony Award winning, epic romance musical THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY to their Arts Asylum stage, August 23rd through September 2nd, 2018.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Robert James Waller, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY has music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown (Parade and Honeymoon In Vegas) and a libretto by Marsha Norman (The Secret Garden and The Color Purple). As Time Out New York wrote: “This musical's emotion is unapologetically grand, and its love story has a wide, old-fashioned scope.”
Southwestern Iowa: 1965. A visiting National Geographic photographer seeks directions from Italian war bride Francesca. He needs to capture on film some of the historic bridges in her community. As her family is out of town, she agrees to the adventure and in doing so might forever change both their lives.
