Please note: We regret to share that previously announced special guest Ry Cooder has recently torn his right bicep tendon and will not perform on January 12. Even though it is minor and he will recover completely, unfortunately Ry won’t be able to play guitar properly for the next several weeks. Wishing Ry a swift healing process. About Live from Here

Bringing audiences near and far together on Saturday evenings has been a tradition in public radio since host Garrison Keillor and team launched A Prairie Home Companion in 1974.

An acclaimed musician and songwriter, Thile took over the helm of A Prairie Home Companion in fall 2016 after a lifetime of listening. “I grew up with the show,” Thile says. “I take this opportunity, this job, immensely seriously and with great awe.” The show, now known as Live from Here, continues the tradition of Saturday evening entertainment on public radio – in person, online, on the radio.

Live from Here is produced by American Public Media and is heard by 2.6 million listeners each week on nearly 600 public radio stations, online, and on the American Forces Networks, SiriusXM Radio, Radio New Zealand, and KPRG in Guam.

About Chris Thile

By the time Live from Here host Chris Thile turned 15, he had already been playing mandolin for a decade. He’d also started Nickel Creek with Sara and Sean Watkins, and released his first solo recording, 1994’s Leading Off. This GRAMMY winner and MacArthur Fellow teams up with numerous musicians in myriad styles and leads acoustic quintet Punch Brothers. About Mandolin Orange:

Mandolin Orange – the North Carolina-based folk/Americana duo of singer-songwriter Andrew Marlin and multi-instrumentalist Emily Frantz – formed in 2009. Their journey has been an auspicious one, as they've garnered praise from NPR, Paste, American Songwriter and more.

About Judy Gold:

Comedian, actor, producer, writer Judy Gold has had stand-up specials on HBO, Comedy Central, and LOGO. She’s written and starred in two critically acclaimed Off-Broadway hit shows: The Judy Show – My Life as a Sitcom and 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother.

About Gaby Moreno:

In the years since singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno moved to Los Angeles from her native Guatemala, she has achieved remarkable success, including an EMMY nomination, a Latin GRAMMY, and top prize in the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
