About the Program: One of our best friends, Richard Goode has appeared with the Friends of Chamber Music more than any other pianist. His career was launched by the Friends of Chamber Music in the 1987-88 season with performances of Beethoven’s complete piano sonatas. His recordings of these sonatas are considered by critics to be definitive interpretations of these works. Beethoven’s “Les Adieux” Sonata is combined with other members of the First Viennese School—Haydn and Mozart—in addition to two of the most adventurous and innovative keyboard composers of their times, Janáček and Chopin.
