Presented by Highland Community College at Highland Community College

Highland Community College is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $5000 grant from Humanities Kansas (formerly the Kansas Humanities Council) for a series of cultural events. The name of the series is Highland Community College Cultural Series: Inspiring and Promoting Appreciation of the Arts and Humanities. The theme for this year is "Social Justice: Using S.T.E.A.M. to Revolutionize the World." The first Science/Social Justice event will occur on Monday, October 15 at 5:30 pm in the Jack D. Nutt Math/Science Building, room 1 (MS-1) on the Highland campus. The event will be medically based, discuss the reprehensible history of the medical field in relationship to traditionally marginalized populations (American Eugenics Movement, Tuskegee Syphilis Studies, HeLa Cell Line), and will explore new innovations in medicine that may help to eliminate inequalities.
