“Candlelight, Carols & Cathedral” presented annually by the William Baker Festival Singers has become one of Kansas City’s most loved holiday traditions.
The William Baker Festival Singers present their 21st annual "Candlelight, Carols & Cathedral" concerts, one of Kansas City's most loved holiday traditions. Once called "the alternative to alternative Christmas programs" the unapologetically traditional concert is in the form of a lessons and carols service, complete with festive processions, thrilling music from organ and bells, beloved classical works of the season, and favorite carols in traditional forms for the audience to sing and enjoy. The Festival Singers will be joined by Canon John Schaefer, organist, the Kansas City Bronze handbell choir, and the Concert Choir of Ray Marsh Elementary School in Shawnee, Kansas.
The William Baker Festival Singers is a 50-voice semi-professional chorale specializing in short-form sacred classics and spirituals from across the globe. Based in Kansas City since 1998, the choir has performed in New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Austin, New Orleans, San Antonio, and many other cities. they have produced over a dozen nationally-released recordings, and have been featured in national media, including National Public Radio's Performance Today.
