About Our Location: The Parlor opened in 2018 in the Crossroads district. This former century-old warehouse was converted into a ‘food hall’ of 7 restaurants and 2 bars. It is designed to have an at home feeling with an  area “living room” with large couches for lounging. The “den” is a retail space and the first-floor bar has cabinets on the bar back to give it more of a kitchen feel.  There is a second story spacious heated garden patio, which boasts a great city view. Yaki-Ya, Farm to Market, and Providence Pizza eateries are located on the first floor.  On the second floor, customers have a choice of Karbon, Sura Eats, Mother Clucker and Vildhast in the “dining room.”  Check out their web page for more information at http://www.parlorkcmo.com/. There is also a featured article in the January issue of In Kansas City magazine.

Who should attend? Any age. Any skill level. We're here to have fun, encourage others, and to celebrate individual styles!

What should you bring? Anything will do, many of our members use watercolor, pens, pencils/colored pencils, pastels, and paper that works with that specific medium. The challenge is to be mobile and travel light, you would be surprised about what you can accomplish while limiting your choices. If you are just starting out, student grade or discount brand is perfect.

Trade at the Art Share: a favorite at every meet-up, Artist Trading Cards are 2.5" x 3.5" (available pre-made at stores or make your own from paper you already have on hand).  They're useful in helping you to hone in on your subject, small enough to complete at least one during the sketch event (a real confidence booster), and a means for collecting art from fellow USkKCers.

Be sure to post your sketches to the Facebook page or Instagram with #urbansketcherskc hashtag.

See the world one drawing at a time!
