Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling | Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. | Polsky Theatre, Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College | A story of female empowerment and friendship through adversity.
Steel Magnolias remains one of the great stories of female empowerment and resilience. The L.A. Theatre Works national tour features a diverse cast of six extraordinary women, who, through laughter or tragedy, prove the strength of friendship.
Within the walls of Truvy’s beauty shop, set in the deep Bayou of Louisiana, friends lives increasingly hinge on the existence of one another. At turns both laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Steel Magnolias reveals the strength of the human condition and our shared need for companionship.
Cast: Elisa Bocanegra as Truvy, Shannon Holt as Ousier, Patti Yasutake as Clairee, Monica McSwain as Shelby, Cerris Morgan-Moyer as Annelle, Inger Tudor as M’Lynn
