Bricolaje - Exhibition at la Esquina Gallery

Charlotte Street Foundation welcomes Narciso Argüelles and C.J. Charbonneau curated exhibtion, Bricolaje, as the second visual arts exhibition in 2019 at la Esquina Gallery. Bricolaje explores the practice of artists engaged in creative strategies to interrogate the dominant narratives surrounding the ongoing immigration crisis.

Bricolaje is the first of two shows; one in Kansas City, featuring a group of Mexican and Mexican-American artists who incorporate traditional cultural elements into their work as a tactic to comment on issues of identity, legality, and belonging. A second iteration of the show will be featured in Oklahoma City will focus on the wider practice of Latinx artists grappling with these issues.

The show will run in Kansas City from Friday, March 15 through Saturday, April 20, 2019. The exhibition will be located at la Esquina Gallery (1000 W 25th Street, KCMO). The opening reception takes places on Friday, March 15 at la Esquina from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Bricolaje is curated by Narciso Argüelles and C.J. Charbonneau. Artists featured include Narciso Argüelles, Patricia Bordallo-Dibildox, Lizbeth Contreras, Gabby Diaz, Joselyn Garcia, Mary Kuvet, Diana Lerma, Thomas Luna, Rodolfo Marron III, Rebekah Pech-Moguel, Fidencio Fifield-Perez and Kiki Serna.
