FREE | to have and to hold | May 2nd 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm | Golden Stag Tattoo Gallery | The BFA thesis exhibition of Kansas City Art Institute senior Alyza Perez displaying works combining print media with traditional quilting methods
This exhibition will highlight Perez’s most recent work surrounding the theme of connections, physical and implied. Over the course of six months, she has worked extensively with denim material to develop quilted objects, some of which stand alone in their own right while others have been transformed through the act of monotype printmaking. The history of the works, real and fabricated, ask the audience to consider their own associations with quilts and quilt making during an age where the reation of quilts is no longer a necessity.
