May Snap Space Exhibition - Elise Gagliardi

Presented by Kansas City Artists Coalition at Kansas City Artists Coalition

SNAP SPACE GALLERY - ELISE GAGLIARDI For centuries, people have been stacking piles of rocks in forms of towers, and mounds to signify a multitude of meanings. The Inuit people built Inukshuks as directional markers. Ovoo are piles of sacred stones piled as religious shrines for the mongolian people. All over Europe and North America Cairns have been constructed from prehistoric times until now as landmarks, trail makers, boundary lines, and more. Considering life as a pilgrimage and path that we all walk. Gagliardi hastaken this simple form of the Cairn to symbolise, in this context, a memorial, a remembrance, and a celebration of the path that's been forged and the path that is ahead.
