Diving In: 100 Years of Swim Fashion | May 25 – Sept 21, 2019 | Summer exhibition at the Kansas City Museum at the Historic Garment District, located at 800 Broadway Blvd | Tickets $5
Summer is almost upon us—mowing lawns, backyard barbeques, and no school! It’s also time for swimming, and the Kansas City Museum has in its historic clothing collection numerous examples of what we’ve worn over the past 100 years. How did we go from bathing suits to swimsuits? Where did we swim? From modest to bold, who we are is reflected in what we wear—even in swimwear.
Diving In:100 Years of Swim Fashion, the summer exhibition at the Kansas City Museum at the Historic Garment District, located at 800 Broadway Blvd., plans to answer these questions—and more—as it shows off swimming attire for men, women, and children. In addition, we’ll be looking at several favorite “swimming holes” from the past to the present, their history and sometimes their controversy.
Diving In opens to the public on Saturday, May 25 through September 21, 2019
