Ages 7 to 13: 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12
Ages 14 to 17: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26
Are you an aspiring fashion designer? Do you want to learn how to sew? Are you curious about ways to become involved in Kansas City’s fashion community?
Join us for a hands-on bootcamp experience that will teach you the foundational skills needed to construct simple textile items and highlight for you the path to become a fashion designer. The camp will also include special guest speakers from Kansas City’s fashion community.
Only 10 places per session!
Students will:
Learn how to operate a sewing machine, use a pattern, and sew garments;
Sew one garment that is emblematic of their fashion brand and showcase it via a fashion show for family;
Use creative and problem-solving skills to expand their imagination, and
Hear from industry professionals about how to prepare for careers in fashion.
Basic fabric for product development and Janome School Mate 7330 and HD-3000 straight-stitch home sewing machines will be provided; students must provide their own sewing kit and fabric for sewing projects. A shopping list will be provided.
Course fee includes lunch each day.
Perfect for children in 2nd through 12th grades. No experience required but sewing machine experience helpful.
This class is being taught by Rightfully Sewn Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Pamela Lucas. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and has over 20 years of teaching experience.
Tickets are $350 each. Only 10 places in each camp.
