The winner of the Living Blues Critics’ “Female Blues Artist of the Year”, Ruthie Foster, comes back to the Folly Theater on Friday, October 18th!
Ruthie Foster is known for her powerful, soulful voice and Bluesy sound that can be heard across the U.S. on this artist’s expansive tour. Most recently awarded a Living Blues Critics’ Award for Female Blues Artist of the Year, Ruthie has gathered accolades including seven Blues Music Awards, three Austin Music Awards, and the title of an “inspiring American Artists” as a United States Artist 2018 Fellow, among many other awards.
Ruthie, a Texas native, draws her influence from legendary acts like Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin. Upon leaving the Navy, Ruthie signed with a major record label and moved to New York, only to feel pressured to change by the label. She walked away from the record deal to head back to the Lone Star state. Partnering with Blue Corn Music, Foster was able to expand the craft of her music and develop a truly unique sound. Her latest album Joy Comes Back, born out of love and loss, was widely well-received by critics and listeners alike!
Ruthie joins us back on the Folly stage for a moving, soul/blues/gospel performance on Friday, October 18th at 8 PM!
