Farewell to Summer Free Day

Farewell to Summer Free Day

Presented by The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures at The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures

On Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, the public can visit The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures at no cost. Farewell to Summer Free Day includes a new spy-themed scavenger hunt and craft workshop. Visitors of all ages will enjoy an adventure full of mysterious clues and secret codes. Activities will be available while supplies last.

“We are excited to invite the entire Kansas City community to join us for this special free event,” Petra Kralickova, the museum’s executive director said. “Our Farewell to Summer Free Day is a time for children and adults to experience just how engaging, inspiring and fun our museum can be.”

T/m’s free admission day also includes entry into the temporary exhibit A Space of Our Own: Dollhouses of the 20th Century. Featuring some never-before-seen examples from T/m’s extensive dollhouse collection, the exhibit explores the ways dollhouses, a toy of the upper class in the 19th century, became an iconic toy for the masses in the 20th century alongside the rise of the middle class. Also, within A Space of Our Own is a can’t-miss interactive attraction: a dollhouse large enough for children and adults to enter!

Summer programming at The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures is supported by the City of Kansas City, MO, Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund.
