Ordinary Elephant earned the 2017 International Folk Music Artist of the Year Award, which recognized the husband-and-wife duo for their intricate harmonies accented by clawhammer banjo and acoustic guitar.
Associated Press called Ordinary Elephant's latest album, Honest, "one of the best Americana albums of the year." The review notes that the CD, Honest, "is extraordinary from start to finish...It’s a dazzling album with no false notes."
Husband and wife Pete and Crystal Damore met at an open mic in College Station, TX, in 2009 and soon left their day jobs as computer programmer and veterinary cardiologist to pursue a musical life on the road. Pete plays clawhammer banjo and guitar, harmonizing with Crystal's lead vocals and acoustic guitar. They cite Gillian Welch, Guy Clark and Anais Mitchell as major influences.
