John Marak, Kansas City native, uses his background in painting, ceramics and graphic design to create paintings and sculptures that reflect the changes which nature and time bring to man-formed materials and urban landscapes. In all his work Marak draws on Wabi-sabi, the traditional Japanese aesthetic concept that emphasizes imperfections and impermanence. In his latest series, Marak continues to work with metal, plaster, cement and industrial glue, merging industrial materials with vibrant colors.
