NEW, FIVE: KCAI Biennial

Presented by Kansas City Art Institute at H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute

The H&R Block Artspace is pleased to announce the opening of NEW, FIVE: KCAI Biennial. This exhibition introduces new and recent works by artists, designers, poets and scholars who have recently been appointed to the faculty of the Kansas City Art Institute.

NEW, FIVE: KCAI Biennial features a range of media including drawing, sculpture, ceramics, video, stop-motion animation, graphic design, illustration, and text. Participants include Bona Bones (Animation), Héctor Casanova (Illustration), Christiane Cegavske (Animation), Eleanor Lim-Midyett (Liberal Arts), Adam Lucas (Graphic Design), Lisa Maione (Graphic Design), Il Sung Na (Illustration), Sean Nash (Painting), Steve Rowell (Photography), Jean Schmitt (Foundation), Steve Snell (Foundation), Christopher Spaw (Foundation), Jordan Stempleman (Liberal Arts) and Casey Whittier (Ceramics).

NEW, FIVE: KCAI Biennial is organized for the Artspace by members of the Educational Outreach and Exhibition Committee (EOEC), a faculty-led committee dedicated to connecting the KCAI community of students, faculty and staff to professional opportunities to exhibit, share, extend and expand the reach of their work and creative practices. Each year, EOEC works together with local affiliates and institutional partners to organize exhibitions of student work, create opportunities to exhibit work by faculty and staff, and publicize student grant opportunities.

The Artspace will host an Open House coinciding with the Kansas City Art Institute's End-of-Semester Exhibition and Sale. Please stop by and enjoy some sweet, spicy ChaiPod chai and view the NEW, FIVE: KCAI Biennial exhibition before it closes on December 7.
