Poetry Brunch Open Mic: Poet T.L. Sanders

Poetry Brunch Open Mic: Poet T.L. Sanders

Presented by Flying Ketchup Press at Flying Ketchup Press

KC Fringe award-winning spoken word artist, Poet T.L. Sanders, performs again at open mic book launch October 12th, 2019 11 am to 2 pm. Part of the three days of events connected to Fountainverse Poetry Festival: "As masterful as Tony Perkins' Equus...Best of the Best !" --Laura Marcus Mountjoy; "Look out Broadway"-- Teresa Bronston McKinley; "Equally as riveting as Ntozake Shanje's Color Girls" --Victor En Yu Tan, UMKC professor of lighting and design.

Kansas City's, Poet T.L. Sanders, also known as Àtwist – The Language Artist, is a modern-day renaissance man. He speaks French. He plays bass. He is a cage fighting martial artist. He educates. Give him a stage, he articulates. Lend him an ear, he motivates. Fountainverse poetry festival this October 11-13 at the Charlotte Street Capsule Space on 16th and Broadway.

His book, "kNew" (Flying Ketchup Press) is a hybrid-- a poetic screenplay at the heart of open mic. "Intense, gripping… a one-two punch...written in fire and delivered with thunder," writes reviewer Kelly Luck. Get "kNew" at the festival or online as paperback or ebook, in both chapbook or screenplay. The open mic celebrates the launch of Flying Ketchup Press with the release of their first seven books of poetry including debut poet, Kēvin Callahan, and a collection of Kansas City poets and artists called "Blue City Poets" featuring twelve well-known and debut Kansas Citians. Managing Editor, Polly Alice McCann, says the new small press was founded to discover and develop new voices in poetry, drama, fiction, and non-fiction with a special emphasis in new short stories -- to create worlds of wonder and delight; to share stories. Maybe yours.
