William Baker Festival Singers & Chamber Orchestra join with University Singers of KU to present a diverse concert of Music for All Saints featuring Bach’s Cantata No. 106 on November 3, 3:00 PM, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1307 Holmes in KCMO
The William Baker Festival Singers & Chamber Orchestra, with soloists Erica Seago, Sean Sweeden and Ed Frazier Davis, present God's Time is Best: Music for All Saints. on Sunday, November 3, 3:00 PM. Guest artists include the University Singers from the University of Kansas. The 90 minute concert features J. S. Bach's Cantata No. 106 "Gottes Zeit ist die allerbest Zeit" joined by an orchestra of recorders and violas da gamba. Also featured are works by Claudio Monteverdi, F. Melius Christiansen and Jake Renestad, along with the folk hymns and spirituals that are a signature of the Festival Singers. The program concludes with the world premier of Composer in Residence Ed Frazier Davis' setting of the spiritual Swing Down Chariot.
The William Baker Festival Singers is a 50-voice semi-professional chorale based in Kansas City since 1998. The choir has performed across the Midwest, Northeast and South, including performances at the Washington National Cathedral, NYC's Trinity Wall Street Church and Helzberg Hall. The Festival Singers have released over two dozen recordings and appeared on NPR's Performance Today.
