The Voice Is Yours: Artist Spaces

The Voice Is Yours: Artist Spaces

Presented by Charlotte Street and The Arts Asylum and Art in the Loop and ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council at Unknown

After receiving direct feedback from over 80 artists who participated in the Voice is Yours: Artist Summit from July 6, 2019, a collective group of arts organizations have listened to artists' needs and have curated three programs through the beginning of 2020!

Voice is Yours: Artist Spaces is the second in a series of gatherings offered by a collaborative team made up of representatives from artist organizations across the KC metro. The Artist Spaces topic was identified as a top priority by artists at our first summit held in July of this year. The goal for the series is to connect, inform and empower artists, so they will be better equipped to confront the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing built and cultural landscape.

Appetizers and drinks will be provided at 5:30 PM with presentations beginning at 6:00 PM. This discussion is hosted by the KC Health Department at 2400 Troost Avenue in Kansas City, MO.

Artists are encouraged to park in the south public parking lot and enter in the main entrance. You can access elevators to the left of the opening lobby and ride to the Lower Level to access the auditorium. There will be signage and guides present.

Please email communications@charlottestreet.org if you have any questions regarding accessibility (transportation, child care, ADA needs, etc.).

Artists are encouraged to attend a presentation of 9 pecha-kucha style slide show presentations from other artists who cover the topics of:
1. Artist Venues
2. Affordable housing/studio space
3. Artist Ownership and investment

Confirmed presenting artists will be announced soon.

Attendees will be able to break out into discussion groups after presentation themes to share ideas and connect with other peers for more resources. After all presentations are made, an "Idea Marketplace" will round out the program, allowing artists to match up based on needs/interests and brainstorm what their next action steps should be.

The goal of the "The Voice Is Yours" is to unify, educate, and activate the artist community around their self-identified top priorities.

Future meetings and topics include:
"The Voice is Yours: Representation" (Date: January TBD)
"The Voice Is Yours: Leadership" (Date: Spring TBD)
