CODE PRACTICE: A Solo Exhibition by James Woodfill

Presented by Weinberger Fine Art at The Drawing Room by Weinberger Fine Art

CODE PRACTICE (verb): a trigger and not a resolution; a provisional exploration; communication as process.
CODE PRACTICE is an exhibition of artifacts excavated from James Woodfill’s studio investigations. CODE PRACTICE can also be seen as a conceptual framework for his most recent body of work that has unfolded over the past two years. Woodfill has taken inspiration from many sources; from architectural models and hollow core doors, to stagecraft and music, he blends these sources with the conditions of production and decision making that have evolved in his practice over many decades. He amplifies these conditions as he works and reworks his approach leaving the residue of the processes behind at each stage: this residue is what we observe. As seen in his earliest work, these pieces return to a fundamental connection to painting and color.
