POSTPONED - Soobeen Lee, violinist in a FREE collaborative concert, sponsored by Capitol Federal®

Presented by Harriman-Jewell Series at Liberty North High School Performing Arts Theater

Called “Korea’s hottest violin prodigy” (HanCinema), SooBeen Lee will bring her luxurious playing for a special Discovery Concert that combines the young musician’s mastery with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Kansas City. The celebrated 18-year-old violinist will play a collection of works with pianist and then will join Music Director and Conductor James Murray III and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra for the concert’s second half for selections to be announced.
First Prize Winner of the 2014 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, SooBeen Lee began studying the violin at the age of four. At eight years old she won the National Competition of the Korean Chamber Orchestra, she won First Prize at the Russia International Youth Violin Competition the following year, and she captured First Prize at the 2013 Moscow International David Oistrakh Violin Competition.
The 2019-20 season is Maestro Murray’s 23rd season as Music Director and Conductor of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Kansas City. Murray founded the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra together with Paul Cooper and Dr. Phil Posey. The ensemble has developed a reputation for the consistent quality of their performances combined with innovative programs.
