Wiki Edit-a-Thon: Documenting Kansas City’s African American Artists

Presented by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Join us as we celebrate Black History month by hosting a Wiki Edit-a-Thon! In this interactive session you’ll learn about Wikipedia, the anatomy of a Wiki article and how to contribute to this free online encyclopedia. Learn about the importance of developing a diverse group of Wikipedia editors and how this impacts who is written about and why. In our Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon we’ll focus on documenting the rich artistic heritage of Kansas City’s African American artists by creating, editing and improving Wikipedia articles on this topic. To participate in this session you don’t need specialized knowledge of Kansas City’s African American artists or of Wikipedia.
