Goethe Book Club 2020

Presented by Goethe Pop Up Kansas City at Goethe Pop Up Kansas City

Join our Goethe Book Club where we meet to discuss works from contemporary German-speaking authors and explore experiences with the text. Each selection can be read in its English translation or original German; the discussion will be in English.
The Goethe Book Club is open to everyone and newcomers are always welcome. Keep in mind that participants are expected to have read the selection prior to the meeting.

Tue, 2/25: "Measuring the World" by Daniel Kehlmann
Tue, 4/28: "The Capital" by Robert Menasse
Tue, 6/30: "All Russians Love Birch Trees" by Olga Grjasnowa
Tue, 9/29: "Austerlitz" by W.G. Sebald
Tue, 12/1: "Zero" by Marc Elsberg

Where to get each selection:

We recommend purchasing your own copy. Each book can be obtained from local bookstores or online via most major retailers in hard copy or digital format.
Selections are available at our Pop Up Library in English as well as in German and can be checked out for two weeks – but be fast since these copies are checked out quickly!
German editions of each selection are available through the Goethe Institut's free eLibrary.
Check out the Kansas City Public Library where certain selections can be found too.
