Come by Buttonwood Art Space on July 14th from 6 pm-9pm for an evening of art! Enjoy international artwork while learning about the Lidice tragedy 75 years ago. Have some Czech themed food and a glass of wine or an ice cold Boulevard beer!
The 75th Anniversary of the Lidice Tragedy will honor the lasting memory of the annihilation of Lidice, which was razed to the ground by the Nazis, June 10, 1942 in retaliation for the assassination of Nazi General Reinhard Heydrich. The tragedy of Lidice became a symbol of suffering of innocent civilian people across the entire world.
The 7-panel exhibition will be in the gallery, surrounded by international themed artwork. It will be on exhibit until July 30, 2017. Buttonwood Art Space is also hosting an art benefit and sale for Sister City Association of Kansas City (SCAKC). The exhibition will be titled “World Visions,” and will include artwork from around the world along with artwork by local artists depicting life around the world. The Lidice exhibition will be surrounded by the wonderful artworks in "World Visions."
