CANCELED - Current Perspectives Presents: Casey Gerald

Casey Gerald is the author of There Will Be No Miracles Here, a memoir that stands the American Dream narrative on its head, while straddling the complex intersection of race, class, religion and sexuality. TWBNMH was named a Best Book of 2018 by NPR and The New York Times. He most recently published “The Black Art of Escape” in New York Magazine, an 8,000-word essay that reflects on the 400th anniversary of the first enslaved Africans’ arrival in Virginia, in 1619, while articulating a new vision for black Americans.
Gerald is a native of Oak Cliff, Texas. He was educated in Dallas Public Schools, at Yale College, where he played varsity football, and at Harvard Business School, where he co-founded MBAs Across America. His two TED Talks have received over three million views, and his work has been featured on NPR, CNN, in The Guardian, Vanity Fair, and on the cover of Fast Company, among other outlets.
