VIRTUAL - Urban Sketchers KC Goes Virtual!

VIRTUAL - Urban Sketchers KC Goes Virtual!

Presented by UrbanSketchersKC at Crown Center

USkKC Goes Virtual! We are canceling the usual monthly meetups due to COVID-19 concerns. It is incredibly difficult to be apart from our friends and colleagues during social distancing recommendations when our organization thrives on hugs, networking, sharing, teaching, and learning at scheduled gatherings and pop-ups. It will be a while until we are back...
In the meantime, we are adapting to these challenges and will be virtual with daily activities, prompts, and games. It is important to note a few changes that we felt were necessary for the Urban Sketchers Manifesto to ensure that safety measures are followed. One of the biggest changes is allowing photo references for a sketch (in lieu of traveling to location for direct observation), please review those noted in bold:
We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.* *Photography references will be allowed in lieu of being "on location" or "out" during the social distancing period - please ensure you give the owner credit while posting your sketch on the USkKC forums in these instances. Additionally, be in the know, if you are sketching "on location" or "out", please follow the recommendations of the CDC, healthcare professionals, and community leaders in your area.
Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.** **Photography references allowed. Please follow the recommendations of the CDC, healthcare professionals, and community leaders in your area in regards to "travel".
Our drawings are a record of time and place.
We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
We support each other and draw together.
We share our drawings online.
We show the world, one drawing at a time.
That being said, tune in to our Public Facebook Page, Group Facebook Page (member sketches and stories), Blog Page, and Instagram  for updates. WE CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT KANSAS CITY & FRIENDS WILL SKETCH!
Who Should Participate? Any age. Any skill level. We're here to have fun, encourage others, and to celebrate individual styles!
What Should You Use? Anything will do, many of our members use watercolor, pens, pencils/colored pencils, pastels, and paper that works with that specific medium. If you are just starting out, student grade or discount brand is perfect.
