SUMMER FASHION INTENSIVE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

SUMMER FASHION INTENSIVE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Presented by Rightfully Sewn at Rightfully Sewn

Are you an aspiring fashion designer? Do you want to learn how to sew? Are you curious about ways to become involved in Kansas City’s fashion community?

Join us for a hands-on, intensive experience for ages 7 to 13 that will teach the foundational skills necessary to design and construct simple garments and highlight a path to become a fashion designer. Featuring special guests from Kansas City’s fashion community! No experience required but sewing machine experience helpful.

Only 10 places!

Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers.

Students will:
Learn how to operate a sewing machine, use a pattern, and sew garments;
Sew one garment that is emblematic of their fashion brand and showcase it via a fashion show for family;
Use creative and problem-solving skills to expand their imagination; and
Hear from industry professionals about how to prepare for careers in fashion.

Basic sewing supplies will be provided. A shopping list will be provided.

This class will be taught by Rightfully Sewn Instructor Nina Littrell. She is a graduate of Kansas City Art Institute, where she studied textiles and garment construction. Nina is a Kansas City-based fashion designer who is interested in merging art and fashion.
