ORGANIC FUNCTION with Brian Morgenlander

ORGANIC FUNCTION with Brian Morgenlander

Presented by Bredin-Lee Gallery at Bredin-Lee Gallery

How do you find the breaking point without breaking it? My curiosity drives me to push the limits of the clay, looking for the moment before something collapses. By questioning these boundaries, my work has evolved from basic functional forms to elaborate and technical ones. With my work, I strive to generate an atmosphere of contemplation and reflection for others by allowing the viewer to imagine where the work fits into both the contemporary ceramic field as well as the natural world. Brian graduated from University of Miami in 2017 with a BA in geography but decided continue his studies in ceramics the next year at the University of Florida. Brian now lives in Kansas City, Missouri and is an artist in residence at 323 Clay where he also teaches wheel throwing classes. This fall he will be attending the MFA Ceramics program at West Virginia University.
