Set in 1902, Story of the Century is an original musical about Burrell Cannon, the inventor of the Ezekiel Airship. From his small town in Pittsburg, Texas, Cannon invented and flew the Ezekiel Airship a year before the Wright Brothers.
Combining historic events with fictional characters, Story of the Century captures the spirit of the turn of the 20th century with rollicking melodies, social consciousness, and heart.
For our free staged reading, the cast will perform the complete two act musical but without sets, costumes, or choreography. The staged reading will allow us to see how the performance plays to an audience before we add all the extras. It's a sparkling, captivating production with new songs and a full script with most of the original production team and cast. If you attended the 60 minute version of the musical last summer at the Unicorn Theatre, you're in for some big surprises. For those who would like to provide audience feedback, you are invited to stay after the performances to talk with David, our director, and the cast. In the near future, we hope to perform the full length Story of the Century at a local or regional theatre.
Free Admission.
