Join us for an exclusive First Friday Amulet Party.  Visitors to this free, private-viewing event will view handmade Amulet jewelry made with semi-precious gemstones.  The jewelry collection is part of the artist’s Amulets for Transformation series found in her solo show at The Box Gallery, titled Painted Poses: New Work by Adrienne Walker Hoard. Visitors will learn about the Chakra energy system and the power of natural gemstones to enhance your personal well- being.  Visitors will also be introduced to the artist’s creative prayer process learned from South African bead-sewers. About the Artist:  Kansas City-based artist, Dr. Adrienne Walker Hoard, is an artist, writer and educator.  Her work has exhibited nationally and internationally, including a recent exhibit of documentary photographs at the Kansas City Public Library Central branch, titled, “New Democracy Art: A South African Saga of Women, Art and Identity.” Hoard is a former Fulbright Scholar to South Korea, research fellow to South Africa and professor emeritus of fine art and Black Studies at UMKC.
