VIRTUAL- Blood at the Root by Dominique Morisseau

Presented by The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City at Online/Virtual Space

*Note: This play contains Strong Language – Profanity, and suggestive situations. Recommended for audiences 17 and older
It’s a hot day in Louisiana when high schooler Raylynn decides to break a rule – or ten. Fueled by racial injustices echoing throughout her life and her campus, Raylynn takes matters into her own hands. The ensemble cast at the heart of this drama, inspired by the real-life story of the Jena Six and performed by local Kansas City actors, wants to know: how the hell do you protest anyway?
Other themes: grief, generational differences, race, taking action, how to define family, discrimination, surviving versus making waves, how does the world set certain people up to fail, whose turn is it to bring justice if the leaders won’t?

A Virtual Presentation feature students of our Repertory in School Empowerment Program (RiSE) from Ruskin High School & Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts
