KC VITAs presents it’s first virtual concert, bringing exciting new works to the comfort of your living room! Join KC VITAs for an afternoon of art song premieres performed by our incredible solo artists.
Voices of VITAs will feature works from the ensemble’s 2018, 2019, and 2020 Calls for Scores, as well as a new work by composer-in-residence L.V. Wood titles “Unloaded.” The composers whose works are featured in this recital hail from L.A. to Britain, and everywhere in between. These works include “His Love Whom I Love” by local composer JD Daniel, “Twinkle, Twinkle” by British composer Anthony Fort (U.S. premiere), “Outside: A Song Cycle” by Ben Stevenson (world premiere), “Advertisements” by Kian Ravaei (world premiere), “Canciónes de desamor” by Steven Serpa, and Penelope by Canadian composer Cecilia Livingston.
Many long-time KC VITAs attendees will note that this evening is unique: it features no large choral works. Typically art songs represent only a small portion of the concert, but these solo vocal works are perfect for socially distant music making and provide a way to feature even more new, captivating music. This free concert can be accessed on YouTube through a link on the www.kcvitas.org website. Though the concert will take place at the stunning All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, no audience will be present at the concert venue due to the ongoing pandemic.
