The Rotary Club of Independence has named Englewood Arts the recipient of their 7th annual Mardi Gras fundraiser. The Rotary Club raises several hundred thousand dollars annually for local causes. To-date The Rotary has raised over $300,00 in sponsors for this year's event of which Englewood Arts will be the recipient of. This year's fundraiser will be a virtual event on Saturday, February 6th beginning at 6:45 pm. Attendance will be no charge and open to the public. Arty Mardi Gras for Englewood Arts will include live artistic performances and videos highlighting the arts. The event will have a wide variety of art-themed auction items as well as other unique items.
Englewood Arts is a two-prong nonprofit organization focused on creating a diverse and sustainable community in harmony with the arts. The first phase is to renovate a recently purchased 30,000 sq foot three-story former medical building into a community-based arts center. The Arts Center will provide programming for people of all ages in performing, culinary, and visual arts. The second phase will address affordable and sustainable housing that will complement and play a part in supporting The Arts Center.
