VIRTUAL - Artist Spotlight: Rembrandt

Presented by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art at Online/Virtual Space

Join us for a virtual conversation on Rembrandt with Aimee Marcereau DeGalan, Louis L. and Adelaide C. Ward Senior Curator of European Arts, and Jon Seydl, Director at Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. They will discuss many of the distinctive hallmarks of the artist’s style, give fascinating context to his life, and provide insight to his career. They will also offer their perspectives on the film, My Rembrandt, and answer questions about the enigmatic, yet enduring popularity of this Dutch master!
To complement this discussion, our virtual cinema is showing the “alluring art-world documentary,” My Rembrandt. Directed by Oeke Hoogendijk, My Rembrandt dives deep into the art world of the Old Masters, exploring the motives of select collectors whose interest in this Dutch master have taken on obsessive proportions. Submit your questions in advance to tivoli@nelson-atkins.org.
