VIRTUAL - Reading and Discussion with Author Nora Krug

Presented by Goethe Pop Up Kansas City at Online/Virtual Space

Join the Goethe Pop Up Kansas City on May 6th in welcoming award-winning artist Nora Krug for a discussion of her graphic memoir Belonging.  This event is presented in partnership with the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department of the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) and the International Relations Council (IRC). It will be moderated by Dr. Scott Baker, Professor of German at UMKC. Registration is required and is available through a link below.

Nora Krug was born in Karlsruhe, Germany and is Associate Professor of Illustration at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. In her 2018 graphic memoir Belonging: A German Reckons with History and Home (German title: "Heimat“), Krug delves into her family’s troubled history and the long shadow cast by Germany’s Nazi past. Belonging was chosen as one of the best books of the year by the New York Times, the Guardian, NPR, Kirkus Review, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Boston Globe. It was the winner of the 2019 National Book Critics Circle Award.

You may also choose to join the Goethe Book Club on April 27th for a discussion of Belonging.
