William Baker Festival Singers Kansas City Home Concert

Presented by William Baker Choral Foundation at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

The William Baker Festival Singers, a 50-voice semi-professional chorale, concludes its 23rd concert season in Kansas City with a public, in-person performance at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Kansas City.
The program will features classical works by Hildegard von Bingen, William Byrd and Johannes Brahms, in addition to the Festival Singers signature folk hymns, spirituals and gospel songs.  The highlight of the program will be the premier new works by Composer in Residence Sean Sweeden and Senior Composer in Residence ed Frazier Davis.  There will be additional world premiers of the first and second prize winning pieces from the 2021 Institute for Choral Creativity Composition Contest, Goli az dast beraft by Iranian-American composer Daniel Sabgzhabaei to be sung in Farsi, and There Will Come Soft Rains on the famous text of Sara Teasdale by Chinese-American composer Samuel Wu.
The Festival Singers will be joined by guest artists, Kansas City Bronze.  Both ensembles have conducted in-person rehearsals and concerts throughout the pandemic year.  Face masks will be required for all performers and audience members.
