The Veterans Story Collecting Project is in its 2nd iteration and explores the experiences of veterans during their time of military service and after their return to civilian life. Kansas City area veterans of all branches, demographics, and walks of life were interviewed for this project. From these interviews, eight portraits were selected to be performed by area teaching artists and actors. This project is a collaboration between the Fine and Performing Arts Department of the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, The Arts Council of Johnson County, NYU Steinhardt’s Verbatim Performance Lab, and the Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College.
Portraits will be released and live streamed on Sunday, May 30th at 5pm CST on the Verbatim Performance Lab YouTube channel.
The Veterans Story Collecting Project is generously supported by the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, the Midwest Trust Center and the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center.
