Great Balloon Glow Pop-Up

Great Balloon Glow Pop-Up

Presented by National WWI Museum and Memorial and The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair at National WWI Museum and Memorial

Kick off your summer with the first ever Hot Air Balloon Glow on the North and Southeast Lawns. Balloons—also called dirigibles or air ships—were primarily used in WWI to collect reconnaissance miles above the front lines. A century later, the Museum and Memorial, in partnership with Cumulus Radio, invites the public to observe the magnificence of hot air balloons during an evening “balloon glow.” Hot air balloons will be grounded, and propane burners will be periodically lit to keep the balloons inflated.

Beginning at 6 p.m. the public is encouraged to gather safely on the 47 acres with friends and family to listen to live music from Emma Jo and the Wild Division, grab a bite to eat from a local food truck and picnic.
ON-SITE FOOD TRUCKS: Taste of Brazil, Scimecas Italian Sausages, Touring Taps, Hawaiian Ice, Jack's Kettle Corn, The Waffler, Ragusa's Italian Crepes and Soda Ying's Thai Food, Dead Beet Vegan Food Truck
And don’t forget to bring your wallet; the Strawberry Swing will be on-site with inspired handmade and vintage vendors specializing in painting, photography, woodworking, and more.
The Great Air Balloon Glow will begin around 8:30 p.m. and last for 90 minutes. FREE to the public.
