Celebrate Kansas City’s Deaf Cultural Month at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art with our third annual Deaf Cultural Day and Reel to REAL: Movies and Conversation film series. The day will include American Sign Language poetry performances, film, tour, and artist demonstrations. In partnership with the Deaf Cultural Center, Mid America Alliance for Access and The Whole Person.

A young girl struggles with a traumatic past and suffers from nightmares and flashbacks that takes her back to her childhood days. Written, produced, and directed by Deaf filmmaker, Jade Bryan.
Following the film, join Kim Anderson, M.S. Board of Directors Member at the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture, and Kelly Selznick, Deaf Community Health Program Director, for a moderated discussion regarding various issues within the Deaf Community.

Meet Californian artist David Call. Learn about his artwork and create a De’VIA inspired print. Deaf View/ Image Art (De’VIA) is art that tells the story of the Deaf experience.
