Spinning Tree Theatre reopens with a renewed mission committed to year-round opportunities for Kansas City area teens with disabilities and their able-bodied peers. In partnership with Variety the Children’s Charity of Kansas City, Spinning Tree produces the musical Children of Eden Jr. Written by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and John Caird, Children of Eden Jr. musicalizes the story of Genesis and the age-old conflict of parents and children. Broadway veteran Nedra Dixon, who originated the role of Eve in the American premiere of Children of Eden, directs. Pamela-Baskin Watson provides music direction. Vanessa Severo is choreographer. The cast is comprised of young artists age 12-18. Spinning Tree offers a unique hybrid inclusive theatre camp and professional musical theatre training program with the goal of serving Kansas City area youth of all abilities. The opportunities are tuition-free, relying on grants and individual donations to sustain and thrive.
