The 125-member Summer Singers of Kansas City and Chamber Orchestra joins with soloists Sarah Tannehill Anderson, Kristee Haney, David Adams and Joshua Lawlor.
Sunday, August 20, 2:00 PM, Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral
The Summer Singers of Kansas City & Chamber Orchestra perform one of Handel's most beloved oratorios, Judas Maccabaeus. With thundering choruses and thrilling arias the work offers an operatic dimension and some of Handel's best dramatic writing. The work will be offered in a 90-minute version with full orchestra and chorus.
The Summer Singers has offered annual concerts for 19 seasons. Past performances have included Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem, Beethoven: Mass in C, Choral Fantasy and Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Mozart: Requiem, Solemn Vespers, Great Mass in C minor, Coronation Mass, and Missa Brevis in D, and Haydn: The Creation, Lord Nelson Mass and Mass in Time of War, among many other masterworks.
