Vespers | Sunday, March 13 at 5:00 PM | St. Mary’s Episcopal Church | Concert will be a 40-minute prayer service fully chanted in Latin and a free concert for the public
Vespers is a prayer service of the day in the Church’s ancient prayer cycle. A group of Tenors and Basses from Te Deum will offer this 40-minute prayer service fully chanted in Latin. “Vespers” offers both an ancient look at the practice of Christian Monks as well as a modern opportunity to experience chant in contemplative silence. Informed by the earliest chant notation found in the 10th century manuscripts of Sankt Gallen Abbey, Te Deum presents the chants with dynamic rhythmic and melodic intricacies that are revealed with careful study and understanding of these ancient prayer books.
Vespers is a FREE offering to the public.
