The William Baker Festival Singers, Kansas City's 50-voice semi-professional chorale specializing in short-form sacred a cappella classics, spirituals and new works, presents its 24th Season Opening Concert, The Everlasting God. Featured composers include the ensemble's composers-in-residence Sean Sweeden and Ed Frazier Davis, along with J. S. Bach, Samuel Barber, Kenneth Jennings, Eriks Esenvalds, and Gregorio Allegri, along with works from Jewish heritage and the early American hymns and spirituals that are a signature of the Festival Singers. A highlight is the mini-cantata, I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes, by Adolphus Hailstork with tenor soloist Will Simpson.
Our special guest artists will be Allegro Con Brio from the Allegro Choirs of Kansas City under the direction of Christy Elsner. Wine and Cookie Reception to follow. The William Baker Festival Singers is Chorus in Residence at St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
