Samantha Ege, Pianist in FREE Discovery Concert Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 5:00 PM Folly Theater
NEW DATE | Dr. Samantha Ege’s free Discovery Concert will feature the music of Black women composers, including Kansas City’s own Nora Holt. Her performances and publications shed an important light on composers from underrepresented backgrounds.
Dr. Ege is a leading interpreter and scholar of 20th-century composer Florence B. Price, the first African-American woman to have a symphony played by a major American orchestra.
Dr. Ege is the Lord Crewe Junior Research Fellow in Music at Lincoln College, University of Oxford, and holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of York and a B.A. with honors in Music from the University of Bristol.
Many collaborations are being planned for Dr. Ege’s time with the Series, including immersive lectures, education events, and performing opportunities with select Kansas City arts groups.
