Kansas City-area artist Jessica Kincaid works from a palette of colorful beads rather than paint, creating pictorial textiles that have been displayed at the Kansas City Jewish Museum and Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, among other venues. She has taken inspiration from dreams, from her experiences as a school paraprofessional and aide, and uniquely from radiological studies and visual phenomena accompanying her epileptic seizures.
The 2007 Charlotte Street Award winner joins Charlotte Street Foundation Executive/Artistic Director Amy Kligman in an illustrated discussion of her art over the past decade. The
event, part of a yearlong celebration of the 20th
anniversary of the Charlotte Street Foundation, coincides with a Library exhibit of Kincaid’s work, Jessica Kincaid: The Beaded Image.
Co-sponsored by the Charlotte Street Foundation and made possible by a grant from the Enid and Crosby Kemper Foundation, UMB Bank, n.a., Trustee.
