"From Rags to Riches" - A solo piano concert by Kara Huber

Presented by Charlotte House Series at Tracy House

The Charlotte House Series is thrilled to welcome Dr. Kara Huber back to the Series to kick off its third season. A Grammy-nominated Canadian-American pianist, Dr. Huber is quickly establishing herself as a celebrated member of the new class of concert pianists. Hailed as “absolutely dazzling…in a word, flawless” (New York Concert Review) in her Carnegie Hall debut, Dr. Huber combines the polish and warmth of an old-school soloist with the charisma and flare of the new generation of piano virtuosi.

Dr. Huber has received numerous prizes and awards for her performances, including the Audience Favorite Award in the Cincinnati World Piano Competition. She received training from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Awadagin Pratt and The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music with John Perry and Leon Fleisher. Dr. Huber recently completed a DMA in piano and conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and is faculty at the University of Louisville School of Music.

Dr. Huber will be performing a concert inspired by poetry and Ragtime featuring works by Brahms, Schumann, and Scott Joplin. The theme is not only a nod to Ragtime but also embodies the journey of one of the composers on the program, Amy Beach. Perhaps it is also representative of the journey all of us have endured over the past year and a half.

A wine reception with light appetizers and an artist meet-and-greet will follow the concert. We hope you can join us!
