Drum TAO 2022

Presented by Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College at Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College

A dynamic performance of the ancient art of Japanese drumming.

Drum TAO’s modern, high-energy performances showcase the ancient art of Japanese drumming, transfixing audiences worldwide. Combining highly physical, large-scale drumming with contemporary costumes, precise choreography and innovative visuals, the performers of Drum TAO create an energetic and unforgettable production. Drum TAO‘s stage is created through phenomenal performances of incomparable “Wadaiko drums” and the beautiful melody of Japanese flutes and harps.

In 2017, Drum TAO made their major recording debut, a 25-year compilation of their work, which ranked as one of the top three in the iTunes World Album Ranking in five different countries. The following year, they performed in the opening ceremony of “Japonisms 2018” in Paris. They also co-starred with the Bolshoi Ballet as the opening act of “Japan Year in Russia” held at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in front of the head of each country.

They have been awarded the sixth Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner Award and Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award from the Japanese government.
